Orion District Friends of Scouting Campaign

The 2012 Friends of Scouting campaign will run from January through March, 2012. If you would like to schedule an FOS presentation for your unit, contact Ann Randolph or Jeanine Holloway as soon as possible.

What is Friends of Scouting?

The Friends of Scouting Campaign supports the premier youth program in the world and is the largest single source of funding for the programs of the Sam Houston Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

What do FOS donations fund?

Camp Strake, Janis and George Fleming Cub Scout World, Walter Horseshoe Bend, Cockrell River Camp, Bovay Scout Ranch, Hamman Scout Camp, and Camp Brosig provide 7,436 acres of outdoor camping facilities that hosted 225,408 nights of camping.
A team of 60 professional Scouters support more than 53,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers and 21,000 volunteers.
Provide camp scholarships to all Scouts whose leaders request assistance.
Five Scout shops provide uniforms, advancement and program materials.
Develop and maintain communications to better support unit programs.
Increase our marketing efforts to encourage more youth to join Scouting.
Continued improvements to council camps including infrastructure repair, renovation, and new programs.
